Bank Transfers & Payment Processing

Payment processing is part of our core business.
We tailor our services to your needs – even for complex domestic and international transactions.

SEPA Credit Transfer

Domestic and SEPA transfers, whether internal or external to the bank, are typically processed as SEPA payments.

International Money Transfer

SWIFT is a global standard for most major currencies and is typically used for transfers outside the European Economic Area.

Express Transfer

Fast transfers in euros between accounts at participating banks in the euro area can be made using express transfers.

Your payment is on its way to the recipient

Payment transactions go through several steps before they can be credited to the recipient’s account. Our modern infrastructure enables efficient in-house processing. In addition, we rely on a network of strong correspondent banks to handle more complex payments.

Step 1 | Customer Initiates the Transfer

"You initiate the transfer."

You can choose from the following types of transfers:

  • SEPA transfer
  • International transfer
  • Express transfer

Step 2 | Internal posting at HAL

"We post the amount within our own system."

Step 3 | Internal value date at HAL

"The amount to be transferred has left the bank."

Up to this step, the processing of the transfer is under the bank’s control. To ensure the payment leaves the bank on schedule, the order must be received by the bank within its specified cutoff times (see FAQ “What do I need to know about cutoff times and transfer durations for the various transfer types?”)

Step 4 | Value Date for Recipient

"The amount to be transferred has been credited to the recipient’s account."

Especially for international payments, it is advisable to allow for a time buffer to account for processing times at third-party correspondent banks, weekends and holidays, as well as any internal checks.
