Diversity and Equal Opportunity
Let actions speak for themselves

Our society is more diverse and vibrant than perhaps ever before in our history.
As a private bank, we have been an integral part of this society for more than 300 years and have evolved alongside it. Today, for example, more women in Germany are in the workforce than ever before. And yet, gender equality is still far from being achieved—even though significant progress has been made in recent years.
We have already taken several steps to achieve our own ambitious goals. These measures are intended to help permanently embed the principle of equality and our unwavering commitment to it within the company. We’d like to share a few of them with you here.
Echt. Verschieden. Tolerant.

We are authentic. We are diverse. Everyone is welcome. Our diversity statement is rooted in our values and our commitment. In this video-interview, Anja Heßeler, Diversity Officer at Bethmann HAL, explains what this means to us and how we put our commitment into practice.
Circle for Female Leaders

We foster networking—with the Circle for Female Leaders, we have created a platform where female leaders from Bethmann HAL and ABN AMRO Germany can network and exchange ideas.
Our Mentoring Program

The ABN AMRO Group, and therefore Bethmann HAL as well, has a mentoring program. In this program, mentors support their mentees in their professional development. The goal of the program is to best develop the diverse potential of our employees—regardless of gender, religion, or ethnicity.
Women on the Move

A platform exclusively for female employees of Bethmann HAL and ABN AMRO that offers not only content on finance and women’s issues but also its own events: Through our global network, Women on the Move, we foster dialogue among our female employees through initiatives such as events organized with Impact Hub Berlin – including “Women in Leadership” and “Investing (in Yourself) as a Woman” – as well as expert lectures on topics like behavioral finance.
Equal Opportunities Survey

In collaboration with an external partner, we regularly conduct a survey on gender equality among our employees and present the results in a report. The survey not only compares the responses of female employees with those of male employees, but also compares the results of younger employees with those of older employees. The survey results serve as the basis for internal training sessions and workshops.
Diversity Charter

By signing the Diversity Charter, Bethmann HAL has committed to promoting the recognition, appreciation, and inclusion of diversity in the workplace. Together with over 4,000 other companies, we are part of this network, through which we exchange ideas on how to strengthen and enhance both internal and external perceptions of equality. Through ABN AMRO, we are also part of the “European Diversity Charter.”
