A Pioneer in Wealth Management: Bethmann HAL Launches New Platform for Dialogue on Sustainability

Frankfurt am Main, 30. June 2026 - The private banking brand Bethmann HAL, one of the top three names in wealth management in Germany, is once again setting new standards in sustainability policy. Following years of successful pioneering work by its Sustainability Advisory Board, Bethmann HAL is now taking the next step in its development. Starting in the fall of 2026, the topic of sustainability will be transitioned into a new, open format: the “ESG Symposium”. With this initiative, the bank becomes the first institution in the DACH region to combine its deeply rooted, institutionalized ESG expertise with a dialogue platform directly aimed at clients and the public.
Founded in 2011 by Bethmann Bank, the Sustainability Advisory Board was one of the first committees of its kind at a German private bank. Composed of independent experts from academia, civil society, and the business world, it has adopted more than 30 policy resolutions over the years, covering topics such as the handling of defense equipment, mining and tobacco stocks, green bonds, deep seabed mining, and fast fashion. Selected clients also participated in the Advisory Board’s meetings.
From Expert Panel to Interactive Think Tank
With the ESG Symposium, this dialogue is now being opened up to a broader audience—as a source of inspiration and food for thought—while the bank retains responsibility for the specific investment criteria. Bethmann Bank’s Sustainability Advisory Board, as well as the Sustainability Committee of Lampe Asset Management GmbH—which has merged with ABN AMRO Bank N.V.—will be dissolved on June 30, 2026.
The new dialogue platform will launch in the fall of 2026 at Café Bethmann in the Marienforum in Frankfurt am Main, the bank’s headquarters. It is aimed at clients, family offices, and interested media representatives. The concept deliberately emphasizes interaction: In addition to expert insights, breakout sessions, workshops, and live polls facilitate a collaborative process of forming opinions. The event’s academic standards remain fully intact: the expertise developed in sustainability issues will be directly incorporated into the new format, in which renowned external experts will provide insights (though the specific details are still subject to internal discussions). The symposium forms the core of an ongoing, year-round dialogue centered on the key issues of sustainable investing.
